Heiko Haskamp died in a drowning accident at Redondo Beach in 1987. His mother Ingrid has released a video message remembering him which can be viewed via the following link:-
Dear Mrs. Haskamp, thank you very much for sharing this with us all. I am so very sorry to hear this news. Heiko was a lovely well loved boy at school and we, my brother, sister and I, used to swim with him at the LRC. Unfortunately I was not able to see your memorial message, just couldn't get it to work. I know this is such a terrible trial for a mother and a father to have to live through, it just shouldn't happen. I would like to say that I have always seen people who have left their physical body (died) and can tell you that life does carry on. I wish you every comfort and wellness. Julie Ryan - Da Vinci 74
Mrs. Haskamp,
I just joined the Alumni association and am amazed at how many people I have found.... I had googled Heiko years ago and found out about the tragedy... i'm so sorry.... I hope you remember me -- I spent many weekends with your family - Andrea was a very good friend -- I'm sorry we never kept in touch.... please have her look me up on this sight -- I'd love to be back in touch with both of you!!
For others reading this - we all lived on Conduit road in the same apartment building.... i have very fond memories of those times.... I'm thrilled to have found this site --
Keep in touch - Paulette Feltus - Einstein 78
Heiko was like a brother to me. He was part of the Hong Kong Water Ski Team, an age group swimmer - and held many records for many years. He swam for the LRC. He played tennis and rode a mean off road motorcycle.
He went to Boston University and graduated Cum Lauda - joined HP for a couple of years, and then went on to do an MBA at UCLA - I think -
He died on July 4th 1987 at Redondo beach. His friends started a trust in his name, which is mentioned in Ingrid's video.
Heiko is remembered by his friends as being a great and extra-ordinary human being. After all these years, he is sorely missed by us all and we keep him close in our hearts.
