Passing of Elaine Sim

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the loss of another Islander. Elaine Sim (79F) passed away on Saturday 6th December in Johannesburg, after an 8 year battle against a rare form of Leukemia. After 2 bone marrow transplants 7 years ago, she managed to snatch another 7 years of life together with her husband and 2 children.

Sadly the disease returned aggressively a few months ago and following a mass of further complications, she was not able to fight the disease any longer.

Elaine will be sadly missed by us all especially by her brothers Mike Sim(80F) and Colin Sim(85F) and parents Craig and Helen Sim. Her funeral will be held sometime in the next week in Johannesburg, SA.

At least she is at peace now after so much suffering and will be truly missed by her husband of 28 years Billy Anderson and their 2 children Kirstie 15 and Marc 13.

Anyone wishing to send messages to the family can do so through her brother Colin Sim

Hello Colin and Mike. I knew Elaine and she was a lovely girl. Elaine invited me to a party, I was about 12 years old. I was in Davinci, 1979. My deepest sympathy to the two beautiful children. So sorry that I got the news so late and that I didnt contact Eliane earlier.May God bless all the Sim family, each and every day. Elyse Banks.
